We had a wonderful chat with our Spa Trainer and Senior Therapist, Asha King. Asha is such a positive and caring woman, and we’re lucky to have her in the Bodhi J family.
How long have you worked at Bodhi J?
I was only just thinking about this the other day. It’s my 9th year at Bodhi!! Time flies when you’re having fun.
What’s your favourite workout?
I love the variety and I also love to combine nature with workouts. It helps to clear my head and fill my lungs with fresh air. So hiking with my hubby and 2 dogs is hands down my first choice in winter. In summer, I tend to be drawn more towards the ocean so walks and swim. I actually tried SUP paddle boarding for the first time last year so keen to try it out again!
What food could you not live without?
Ummm, probably my husband’s chilli con carne, or as he likes to call it – chilli con “Kane” (his name is Kane).
Name someone who inspires you?
My mum. She’s the most genuine, generous and kind soul I have ever known. She always puts others first and is so giving of her time and energy, and never wants anything in return. My mum has been through so much and still stays so positive and optimistic. I am so very blessed to have her in my life.
Finish this sentence. The three things I need to stay sane are…
My family and friends
They keep it real, and they’re always there for a laugh, a shoulder to cry on, or to just be a Wally with. It’s the best thing ever coming home from work to be greeted by my husband and fur babies So very blessed to be surrounded by such beautiful people.
My work
I love being able to come to such a beautiful, calming and tranquil space, and engage with my beautiful work colleagues and guests. It really makes you feel so humbled to know that you have literally made someone’s day by treating them with a little TLC. You just never know what is going on in people’s lives and even just for an hour we allow them to switch off to the chaos in their lives and just be still and in the moment. My work has helped me in my own life in so many ways, so grateful!
Being creative
It’s just as important to have my own downtime to balance me out! Doing things that calm me and recharge my batteries is vital. A few friends and I have a craft group where we have a girls night and a few wines. We’ve made macrame, watercolour painting, kokedamas, sugar cookies, candle making, all kinds of things. So much fun! I also do many of these on my own at home too.
