Spas provide wonderful, rejuvenating and nurturing experiences. A spa journey is about deep relaxation, as well as nourishment for mind, body and soul. Here are some tips for planning your spa experience and ensuring your spa visit is as blissful as possible.
1. Get in early
Don’t be late for your spa appointment. It’s a good idea to arrive at least 20 minutes beforehand. This allows for you to take a look around the spa if it’s your first visit, and be shown your locker area to get ready for your spa treatment. It also gives you time to enjoy the relaxation lounge, and help you transition into a more tranquil mindset.
2. Switch off
Your mobile phone should be turned off, or at least switched to silent – while in the spa. Better yet, leave it at home for a few hours of digital detox, and allow your mind to slow down and get the maximum benefit from your spa experience.
3. In the buff: Spa Nudity
Nudity is probably the aspect of spa-going that causes guests the most anxiety. But there really is no need to worry, spa therapists go to great lengths to maintain guest modesty, stepping out of the treatment room to allow you to disrobe and get comfortable under the sheet on the massage table. And you don’t have to undress completely if you don’t want to; it’s fine to wear underwear while you have your treatment, or many spas often supply disposable undergarments for use purpose.
4. Speak up
Many aspects of your treatment can be modified to your taste: amount of light, music selection and volume, room temperature, talking or no talking. If you would like for the pressure of your massage to be adjusted, let your therapist know. Also, feel free to as questions.
5. Book ahead
Great spas get booked up weeks in advance. Make sure you are not disappointed by planning ahead and booking your spa experience in advance – by phone or online – to ensure you can get your preferred treatments at a time that suits you. If you’re looking to have a series of treatments, book them in for the coming months to ensure you get a schedule that works for you.
